First, it’s important to understand that the terms “supercar” and “hypercar” don’t have strict, universally agreed definitions. There is no exact performance number or price point that officially separates them. For the purpose of this list, we’ll simply focus on cars that combine extreme performance, rare exclusivity, and breathtaking design. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the most remarkable machines ever built.

Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti has one of the most iconic lineups in the hypercar world, and the Chiron stands out as a landmark model. It serves as the successor to the legendary Veyron and became the foundation for many future Bugatti creations.

The Chiron delivers extraordinary performance thanks to its quad-turbocharged W16 engine producing around 1500 horsepower. It is capable of reaching approximately 443 km/h, with 0–100 km/h acceleration in roughly 2.5 seconds.

Its design matches its performance—smooth, aerodynamic, and instantly recognizable. Production is limited to about 500 units, with prices starting around €2.5 million and increasing depending on customization.

Bugatti Bolide

The Bolide takes inspiration from the Chiron but transforms it into a track-focused extreme machine. While visually very different, it still carries the unmistakable Bugatti engineering DNA.

With racing fuel, its W16 engine can produce up to 1850 horsepower. Bugatti claims a theoretical top speed near 500 km/h, although real-world tests have shown lower figures. Even so, its performance comfortably exceeds 400 km/h, placing it among the fastest concepts ever built.

Its carbon-fiber construction and aggressive aerodynamic design make it look almost unreal, like something from a racing simulation. Only 40 units are planned, with prices starting around $4.7 million.

McLaren Speedtail

The Speedtail represents McLaren’s vision of a futuristic grand tourer. Its teardrop-shaped body is designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency, and even the cabin layout is unconventional—placing the driver in a central-forward position with two passenger seats behind.

It uses a hybrid system combining a turbocharged V8 with an electric motor, producing about 1050 horsepower. This allows it to reach 403 km/h and accelerate to 100 km/h in around 2.9 seconds.

Production is limited to 106 units, and pricing exceeds 2 million euros depending on specifications.

Aston Martin Valkyrie

The Valkyrie is a lightweight hybrid hypercar developed with extreme aerodynamics in mind. It achieves 0–100 km/h in approximately 2.5 seconds thanks to a combined output of around 1176 horsepower.

One of its most impressive traits is weight—just about 1030 kg—making it exceptionally light for its class. This contributes to its ability to exceed 400 km/h under ideal conditions.

It features a dramatic carbon-fiber structure, upward-opening doors, and a pure two-seat layout. Only 175 units are planned, and most have already been sold, with prices starting around $3.2 million.

Koenigsegg One:1

The One:1 is named after its unique power-to-weight philosophy: approximately one horsepower per kilogram. This engineering concept defines its entire design approach.

It produces around 1360 horsepower and weighs roughly the same in kilograms, enabling outstanding performance. It accelerates to 100 km/h in about 2.6 seconds and has a claimed top speed of around 430 km/h.

Its large rear wing gives it a distinctive aerodynamic profile. Only 7 units were ever built, each valued at over $2 million.

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

The Jesko Absolut pushes Koenigsegg’s speed ambitions even further. Powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8, it produces up to 1622 horsepower on racing fuel.

It can reach 0–100 km/h in about 2.5 seconds, with a claimed theoretical top speed exceeding 480 km/h—and potentially even higher under ideal conditions.

Despite its extreme performance, it remains relatively lightweight at around 1290 kg. Production is limited to 125 units, with most already sold at prices starting near $3 million.

Hennessey Venom GT

The Venom GT is a lightweight American hypercar known for its extreme power-to-weight ratio. It uses a heavily modified V8 engine producing around 1842 horsepower.

It can accelerate to 100 km/h in approximately 2.4 seconds and reach 300 km/h in just over 13 seconds. Its total weight is close to one ton, contributing significantly to its performance.

Only 24 units were produced, all sold, with prices starting around $2.1 million.

SSC Tuatara

The Tuatara is designed with one goal in mind: extreme speed. Its twin-turbo V8 engine produces high power output, allowing it to reach claimed speeds of up to 455 km/h.

It accelerates to 100 km/h in roughly 2.5 seconds and uses a 7-speed transmission designed for both performance and drivability.

Production is limited to 100 units, with starting prices around $2 million.

Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss

This special Mercedes model prioritizes design and exclusivity over raw speed. It features a unique open-cockpit layout with no windshield, creating a dramatic driving experience.

It is powered by a 650-horsepower engine, reaching about 350 km/h and accelerating to 100 km/h in roughly 3.5 seconds.

Only 75 units were produced, each priced from around $1.2 million, and production ended in 2010.

Lotus Evija

The Evija is a fully electric hypercar developed with advanced engineering partners. It stands out as one of the most powerful electric performance cars ever built.

Each wheel is powered by an electric motor, combining for a total output of around 2000 horsepower. This allows it to exceed 320 km/h and deliver extremely rapid acceleration.

Production is limited to 130 units, with prices starting around $2 million.
